From Where Comes Our Faith?

Our Faith Comes Not From Within, So From Where Does It Originate?

One of the more well known verses, from the New Testament, is this one:

Galatians 3:11 KJV

But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

That is, faith in the person, work and obedience of Jesus on the believers behalf, for we do not have faith in ourselves for our salvation. So, from where does our faith originate?

Here is a verse that gives us a big hint:

Ephesians 2:8 KJV

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Now if faith is a gift we know it does not come from us, for how can we give ourselves this gift of faith. Something else about which to think is how much faith is needed? In this verse God tells us exactly how much faith is given?

Romans 12:3 KJV

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

You see, not everyone to whom God gives this faith receives the same amount. It will differ according to how much faith will it take for one to believe in Jesus as Lord and live by faith in what Jesus has done for us.

Well, have you figured out from where comes our faith? Here is the one verse that explains quite simply from where comes this faith that is given to us as a gift and according to how much faith is needed.

Hebrews 12:2 KJV

Looking unto Jesus the author (originator) and finisher (perfector) of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

From Jesus comes our faith , a perfect faith that He created for our use to be able to stand justified before God

This is why we can say as we read in this verse from the KJV:

Galatians 2:16 KJV

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

When someone asks how did you get such enduring faith you can say quite simply, “From Jesus! Where else?”
