Born Again – Now What Do You Do?
Now that you have been saved by Grace (born-again) and given the gift of faith by which you have believed in Jesus and have proclaimed Him to be Lord, what must you do to ensure staying saved?
Absolutely Nothing!
God does not require anything of the one saved by Grace alone for them to do in order to provide assurance they will not loose their salvation.
There is nothing you did in being saved as it was all done by God, as He willed, and there is nothing you need to do to remain saved.
Read carefully the following scripture and ponder its implications…
Philippians 1:6
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will finish it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
God began the work of salvation in you and God will finish it. You did nothing to be saved and you do not need to do anything to stay saved.
God Knows that you need to grow once you have been born-again so He gives us a heads up of what He will do in us through the writing of the Apostle Paul. Read these two verses from Philippians 2:12-13
“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. (Why?) For it is God which works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
God will not leave you alone. He knows what you need and He will be with you and guide you all your time here on earth to help you grow in your journey as His child.
To believe that you need to contribute to your salvation, even one iota, shows that you do not understand the gospel of Grace.
It is not for you to trust in your good works and righteous behavior along with what Jesus has done for you, for then you would be trusting in your own works along with trusting in the works of Jesus, and that is not the Gospel of Grace.
If you are not trusting in Jesus alone your salvation could be called into question. As Paul said to the Galatians 3:
“Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now being made perfect by the flesh?”
Which is what could be said of you if you are trusting in your own righteous works as well as trusting in the righteousness of Jesus.
Do you really understand the Gospel of Grace, that it is by Grace alone through Faith alone in Jesus alone that we are saved? Then you can rest in peace.
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will finish it until the day of Jesus Christ:” Philippians 1:6
